I am experimenting with using adwords regional advertising by specifying a 30-mile radius of a longitude/latitude of a city in the UK. I have never done this before, so may be making the wrong assumptions - no doubt someone will put me right (politely of course!)
Having experimented, the site does not appear to be being picked up. Reading the blurb, as I understand it, the site would be picked up in 2 circumstances:
1) I search from an IP address which is registered to that location (my broadband supplier uses London-based IP addresses so I guess this is a waste of time)
2) I search for "location widgets" where location is a place within the radius and widgets is one of my chosen search terms.
I can't see that 1 is any use in the UK as most broadband user's IP addresses are London-based (and the 30-mile radius does not include this) , so I am assuming that only option 2 is any use. When I follow option 2, only one site is ever found and that is not my site.
Does anyone else have any experience of doing this? I am wandering how good the regional stuff is outside of the US....
Many thanks
