Google AdWords: How Do I Get My Listing Right At The Top?

I've just started with Google Adwords, so a link to my website appears on the right
hand bar of the google page. But some websites get their name right at the top of the search, above
all the usual listings.
Is this seperate from Adwords or do I just have to put more money in to make my listing number one?

it depends on how much PPC you pay

Pay more to get on top. You have to bid for the keyword and if you max bid is higher than anybody for that keyword you are on top.

For a competitive keyword (eg. hosting, travel, business, etc.), you will need to pay several dollars to secure the top spot.

To save money and be on the top simply make a more intreguing ad than your competition!
