Hi,

I have an adwords campaign that I have have been running for a short while. I recently reduced the daily limited on clicks to £20 per day from £50.

Today I received clicks to the value of over £115!
How can that happen? I checked the campaign settings and the limit is still £20. Can google charge me for these clicks?

I have emailed them about this but I am bow a little worried and will have to check my account all the time. I am used to a £1-8 overcharge but 115 is over 500% of my budget. Has anyone else experienced this?

any advice appreciated

I dont know much about adsense..

But if the limit was set as £20 that should be the maximum amount they can legally charge you

Hope you get it sorted

"Overcharging" is a normal business procedure with Google's Adword. And the reason is somewhat simple...Google does not offer real-time stats and changes are instant yet not implemented until the next day.

For example, if you set your limit to £50 per day and then you change it to £20 per day. Google will still continue to charge you at the previous maximum until the following day. Essentially, 24 hours will passed before you are actually in your desired spending treshold.

Despite this profitable advantage to Google, thousands of advertisers are still using Adwords. This is more of a mystery to me that their questiable business practices.
