I noticed many times in this forum when the adsense is shown, it shows only one ad. It appears it's using the 728x90 format.

When I use the 728x90 format on some of my sites it seems as if it always shows 4 ads.

How can I change it so it always shows only 1 big text ad?

For adsense its not under your control unless you select the Image ads.

If i'm not mistaken, that isn't necessarily controlled by you, but by whomever chooses to advertise via Adsense on your site. WMT has a number of advertisers who have paid for large-text exclusive spots in the leaderboard (John Chow comes to mind).

You can't control the number of ads that will be displayed inside a 728X90 box. Google normally (when you setup the Ad) will ask you to choose either 4 or 5 ads per units. But no more.

If your ad is showing only one ad, it means Google is unable to find more ads to show on your website for that specific block. But this can change through out the day. It's not consistent.

The reason why you see only 1 ads on some sites because the are premium publishers. To be a premium publisher you must have at least 100k page impressions per day.

Thanks

If the leaderboard is filled up with only 1 ad, it is likely to be a CPM ads.

I'm not a premium publisher and i sometimes get them.
I don't know if it's something done by the advertiser or done by google if they only have one ad to display, But it's out of the control of the publisher.

I thought that Google shows only one ad if it can't find more suitable ads for the page. What about if 2 ads are displayed instead of 4 or 5 ?

That doesn't seem to be the case. This forum has plenty of content and the majority of 728x90 ads I see on it have a single advertisement.

It's ok, but you think when Google is displaying lets say 2 ads on a 728X90 box that the ads are CPM ads ?
