Well, colors do matter. In the sense, good color combinations will attract people to come to your site and click the ads. It may affect the CTR. For example, I may never even pay a visit to a site which uses a very atrocious color scheme. The things you need to take into consideration are :- - Readability.
- Easy Navigation.
- Simplicity.
- Portability.
And the rule of the thumb is to blend the AD block with the layout and make the captions in the Ads, very noticable. It should be noticed easily by visitors. But never make them feel that they are ads.
Yeah. We've come to a situation where the only option is to trick users to click the Ads. Ad-blindness is prevailing in a very fast pace. And, not only tech-savvy people are affected by this. Everyone are facing the crisis.
I think banner ads may help overcome this problem to an extent because of the "pretty pictures" and stuff. But, it still won't stand a chance against ad blockers which some users tend to install.
