Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like to share a frustration that I am having right now and to see if anyone can help me with this.
First...I have had adsense running on my sites for about a year and a half. I only recently got more into working with it and started to notice some possible issues.
I have also been runing Adsense Gold (Adsense Tracker - I will abbreviate as ASTr).
I signed up for the service at CrazyEgg.Com (which by the way is really cool) and I used their ability to track clicks on your pages (it also shows you a heat-map of where people are clicking). The first thing that happened was that someone landed on the page just a few minutes after I had set it up and they clicked on adsense (which crazy egg showed me, but ASTr didn't catch it). I then waited a few hours to see if Google Adsense picked it up and saw that it hadn't.
I left it for a few hours, came back and noticed that I had some more visitors to the page and saw that I had gotten even MORE clicks on ads (Reported by CrazyEgg). Pretty cool, until I looked at ASTr again and saw that it had not tracked ANY of those clicks. I checked Google and they were not reported there either! I had missed something like 6, or so clicks that day. Google was showing me 0. Now these were from different people (IP's) at different times of the day from different parts of the country...so there could not have been any way that ALL of these clicks could not be counted because of fraud filters, or anything like that...these were legitimate clicks.
I then contacted CrazyEgg because I thouht it may be a problem with their code. One of the guys over there contacted me right away and tried to troubleshoot with me. He himself had clicked on an add (which CrazyEgg showed me right away) and again, neither ASTr, nor Google was reporting it. Obviously something was wrong! The rep over at CrazyEgg told me to remove their code as they weren't sure if it was something that their service was causing. I did, and later that night got a few clicks that DID register on ASTr and Google Adsense.
Obviously, I figured AH! that's the issue.....It's CrazyEgg.....
The next day, I reset ASTr and watched my stats. (Also running Statcounter on my pages) and saw that ASTr had recorded a few clicks that morning. I checked Google 2 hours later (it usually seems to take 2 hours for clicks to be reporting on Google Adsense from when I notice clicks on AStr) and there was nothing. I waited a few more hours and again NOTHING....but I did see that impressions where being counted correctly...just clicks were not being recorded at Google.
I removed Statcounter, to see if MAYBE that was affecting things...and then did a test with removing ASTr....just using the stats from Statcounter to figure out impressions that I should see and Google's stats themselves. Everything seemed to match on impressions...but I wasn't seeing any clicks. Then the next day, I got about 7 clicks (like all of a sudden everything was normal again) and then for the next day, or two, I was getting clicks reporting. Then all of a sudden, a few days of 0's again.
Now based on the averages and stats I have recorded, I can pretty much tell how many clicks I "Should" be seeing. When compared to those days where I get 5-7 clicks...it's exactly right...then all of a sudden, account-wide NOTHING for a few days.
I have now been experiencing these 0 click days for 4 days in a row, after seeing clicks showing up a few days ago. I took of ASTr, again thinking that MAYBE the code is causing this issue. I wrote the author of the software and he responded with pretty much everything I would expect (sometimes google filters clicks, due to someone clicking on a few ads during one visit, or something like that and that ASTr would catch them all, yet Adsense would not report as many...that makes COMPLETE sense, and I agree with all that he had to tell me).
I have been getting impressions to match with what Statcounter is telling me, but I am still not seeing ANY clicks. This is strange because again, knowing my stats when everything "seems to be working fine", it defitinetly appears that SOMETHING is wrong.
Any help would greatly be appreciated. Has anyone else experienced an issue like this? Coud it be a problem with my host?
When looking into this and doing a LOT of testing over the past couple of weeks with different configurations of having ASTr, CrazyEgg and Statcounter on certain pages, but not others, I am starting to think that a lot of the 0 days that I had ALL ALONG (over a year and a half) have been happening because of this problem that I am having. There have been MANY times when I have the "average" amount of impressions and see NOTHING for a few days and then it goes back to "normal". I am thinking that CrazyEgg is showing me something that has been happening all along, that I never realized because I could never "see it" before.
Again, any help would greatly be appreciated. I know that Google is hard to get in touch with and I have no idea who to contact.
