I think I've come to a definitive equation for increasing AdSense Earnings:

Quality Content + Quality Traffic + Quality Clicks = Quality Earnings

Each part of the equation consists of a certain set of principles and guidelines in which all general AdSense AdVice can fall into and be categorized.

There are many other factors dude such as ads placement, ads blending, etc to improve the CTR.
Your equation seems a bit too simplistic.

Factors such as ads placement, ads blending, etc. generally fall under the category of Quality Clicks as they all aim to improve click-through rate.

Based on that threory I can make the equation more simple

Quality Content + Quality Clicks = Quality Earnings

Because content will get you good and quality traffic as well.

I think you're right, shabbirbhimani, but I still think that Quality Traffic is something that you should focus on entirely

I like your thinking Terrence, but let me modify your equation somewhat. What I like is your focus on quality, but sadly the truth is quality doesn't need to be part of the AdSense equation.

There are many who will insist that:

High Quantity Traffic + Low Quality Content => High CTR = Mucho Dinero

I'm actually with you in creating quality content as most here should know I frequently advocate for building a successful site. Seems though one strategy for AdSense success is to:

1. Build a site with many many pages on the order of thousands or even hundreds of thousands.
2. Create content that is essentially garbage other than it ranks well for long tail search phrases.
3. Provide few if any links on the page other than AdSense

which leads to people seeing a worthless page with some links on the page that look highly relevant which they click.

But in truth I'm with you on creating quality content. I think it's a far better approach for reasons beyond AdSense. I just wanted to point out the other side of things and keep you from automatically following formulas.

There are quite a few factors in being successful with AdSense. Getting a lot of traffic is probably the most important factor if you really want to earn good money, but what works for one site and one particular topic isn't necessarily the same as what will work for another site.

Thanks for the advice, Vangogh. Also, I would like to say I have absolutely no problems with people's interpretations or modifications of my formula. Everyone's input helps to mould and shape it. Perhaps, one day, all of us can develop a master formula: if we work together.

This is becoming an interesting topic....

Terrence I actually agree with you that quality is the way to go. I think quaility is necessary to keep bringing people back and to achieve long term success, but I thought I would throw the other side of things out there.

One of the difficult things with formulas for is that no two sites or businesses are really alike and being different they often take different things to make them successful. For example I think the best way to have the ads on your page is to blend them into your site as well as possible. I've seen many swear to the fact that making the ads stand out has worked better for them.

I prefer general guidelines to forumlas as I don't think busineses succeed with a step 1, step 2 approach.

Now I think your formula has a lot of room for flexibility and I imagine there's room for all those differences in the details. I also think those first two (quality content and quality traffic) are important factors for success for any website. Turn the quality clicks into conversions and it works beyond AdSense.

You are right vangogh, general guideline are indeed better than formulas. What I should try to do is make the formula more flexible, so it can work towards anyone's perspective, by trying to create guidelines. It's true no two persons are alike, so flexibility and ease are of choice are important factors.

Glad to help. Don't forget about testing and measuring the ads. Try different ad types in different locations on your page. Try different color combinations for the few things you can change. And make sure to measure everything through the channels Google lets you set up. Set them up for urls so you can see which topics on your site lead to clicks. Set them up for the different ads in different places to see which work the best.

Once you have some data start eliminating ads that don't perform well and use more the ones that lead to more money.

Definitely right Vangogh. Experimentation plays a big role in finding out what exactly works. This thing called Google AdSense is definitely becoming more and more like a Science.
