Adsense Hints Code?

Hey
I recently found this interesting line of code on www.tutorialized.com. I I've often wondered how big sites always get relevent ads constantly, and i am guessing this is the reason
Quote:
|
google_hints = "photoshop, flash, 3ds max, web design, tutorials";
|
I posted about this in another thread, however no one knew or had even seen this before, so i thought i would start a thread about it.
Does anyone know if you have to be a premium advertiser to use this? (I've looked around other forums but the ansewers were never the same)
Most forums seem to thing that its not allowed in most cases which is a shame. I know that alot of us would benifit from using this.
If you have any commets please post them
Thanks

I decided the best way to find out was to ask Google directly so I just sent an email to the AdSense team and will update the thread when they have gotten back to me.
I'm pretty sure my response in the other thread is correct, but figure the AdSense team can settle things with absolute certainty.

I think the most recent things I found written about it were on some forum threads I found from a few months ago. I don't remember which forum, but I found it with a Google seaarch for google-_hints and don't remember leaving the first page of search results. I definitely didn't go past he second page of results.

Same reason one of my sites is full of broken links and stale content, Peple are lazy lol
I would guess, This is a complete guess, That google decided not to use the google_hints because it was open for abuse, And instead went with section targeting because it meant targeting a section of text that is on the page instead of displaying what adverts you would like.

Still no word so it might not be till after the long weekend, but I promise to let everyone know what they say.
I haven't experimented much with section targeting though it seems like a good way to get more relevant ads.
I agree that google_hints is ripe for abuse. They're basically meta tags for mediabot. I can see where Google might have discontinued them, but I can also see where they reserve it for certain afveritsers who they may have a little more trust in.

Thanks for your inquiry. The feature you're referring to is one of several features the Google AdSense team is currently testing for a very limited number of publishers. At this time, we are not able to offer these features to other publishers. Should we offer these features to additional publishers in the future, we will be sure to notify you at that time. I appreciate your understanding.

I think that clears it up.

Thanks Van.
Would be interesting to see what happens, and how it performs, If google do decide to go ahead with this... For the first week i can see MFA sites adding
google_hints = "asbestos mesothelioma cancer lawyer compensation"; looking to make $40 per click.

Yeah. The tag looks to me an awful lot like a meta tag and it's easy to see the abuse it would receive. Sites everywhere will be displaying ads for mesothelioma regardless of what the page and site is about.
That's why I've been assuming the only publishers who will ever really see this are those that Google has already built a trusting relationship with.

Would have been nice, but I had a feeling it wasn't for everyone. They did say it's being tested so maybe at some point we will be able to use it.
