How can I get a copyright for my site content ?

I'm looking forward to take copyright for my site content.

How can I do that ?
What does copyright protect ?
How much charge will it be ?
I'm from India. Does it have any importance in this process ?
Is there a copyright for free ?
If I place a copyright notification in my site without registration, would it be legal ?

Pls answer my doubts !!

um... from what i know you can put copyright on whateva u want, whenever and freely.

not sure if this is possible or correct, but one way is to put all your stuff on a cd-r and post it to yourself, recorded delivery, and keep it (unopened) then if there is ever a dispute to who owns the content, you have proof...

Great idea but if I place an AD in the site for free(I mean without any registration on the copyright site), will I punished. I wanna know if all those sites out there with the annoying Copyright sign are just freebies ?
