So I have a music website...pretty much dedicated to unsigned/indie bands who really need some free promotion, and music fans who want to hear something other than the mainstream stuff thats flooding the radio.

I originally had really awesome ads-- all about music and unsigned bands.

UNFORTUNATELY now its all wedding bands. No one is going to click on an ad that advertises wedding bands. Out of the 5 ads on the main page, usually 4 of them have to do with weddings.

I've tried to mention unsigned bands and new music a lot in my content so it will make them relevant. But its not helping!

Is there a way to change this?

Block the sites it's displaying in the competitive ad filter.

By the way, I remember seeing something in google terms about not displaying adsense on sites that have music downloads, You may want to check with google that you are allowed to display adsense on that site.

I dont have any music downloads up there It just provides links to myspace!

The only place I'm seeing the ads for wedding bands is on the home page. The other pages seem to be more what you want. I'll echo what stOx said that you can just block those specific ads. Also your pages aren't really optimized all that well. You might want to be a little more specific on the home page about what kind of bands people will find to give AdSense more clues as to what adds to show.

Even just writing some titles for your pages will probably help.

I've run into the same problem...Google often interprets certain words differently and provides content based on those words. For example, bands to them was implying jewellery bands when you meant something completely different. In my case, the word was "columns".

So...if possible (and quite frankly, I don't know how it would be with your site) try to avoid using the word "bands" as much as possible. Try substituting in "musicians" or "groups" at appropriate intervals.

You can also email AdSense indicating the error. They fixed it in my case.

Anyway, I'm not seeing "Wedding bands" either.

yeah, its a little better now. My ads must suck though.. or be misplaced.. I've had 100 visitors so far today (not bad for a new site) and no clicks!
