Is it correct that you're allowed to display only 3 ad units and 2 link units or am I mistaken?

i just found this rule today.....and when i came to know that you can be banned by violating the maximum number of ads rule then i went to my site and just removed the extra ads....
in short this is right dude and there is a chance of getting ban by google if you are violating

They just don't show the ads.

Why should we take risk, add 3 ad units and get more traffic.

I wonder how much you'd have to hate the visitors of your site to even worry about the maximum number of ads you can display

then again, maybe the OP just hates repeat traffic.

More ads doesn't equal more money. You need to consider the CPM also.

If you have a large site, then about 3-5, No more than that, they take it as offense if you used more.
