Finally got on page 1 on Google

Finally got my adsense forum onto page one on Google! Yippee!

Well it's a hell of a lot more traffic than I was getting on page 540 something....
Also I do a lot of work on clients websites and the first thing they all ask regardless of what niche they are in is "Can you get me to Page 1 on Google". Best thing I've found on client sites for jumping them up the rankings recently is Google maps. I've tagged the map with the customers business name and found in one case within three days the site had gone to No.3 in google, and several weeks on is still there.

And does this "traffic" actually do something other than add a log entry and use bandwith??

Yep there are many stupid clients around.

Anybody can get clients "page one ranking" for any number of completely useless phrases. After all my website is 2nd in the SERPs for "cobblers kids" (no quotes), and oddly enough I get no traffic at all for that phrase. Now ho shocking is that!!! Page one and no visitors!!!!

its funny because i rank #1 and #2 on one keyword, but definitely no visitors. so what?

agreed Chris, good point you've made but as I say first thing clients ask for is how long to get me on page 1 in google. For note I NEVER offer this as a service, pointless - as you say we can all get them there for a while but then ---->'millionth page in google thereafter. My original post was merely to highlight the fact that I was happy to have got on google page 1 for my key search term (not blowing a trumpet etc - just that I was pleased to have got on page 1 for my search term) = my post now seems to have turned into a 'shoot me down in flames' post, for no good reason at all - maybe time better spent on dealing with the spammers???, but if any celebration of any such success is going to be slammed down on this forum, then this is most likely to be my last post. If you just want nice 'YES' people to post on this forum then I wish you the best of luck! Over and F**king out!!!!

I agree a lot of stupid people.It`s the SEO firm dream a client firm caled Bamzabar (for example) want to rank 1st for that name.And if they are imressed if you show them that you rank 1st for "Can you get me to Page 1 on Google" it is easy money.

If it's Bamzabar they want to rank for, that's easy. Cannot imagine there is a lot of competition for that keyword

But more seriously, getting on page one pf google for one keyword is... well not really going to make your business. you need a bunch of high demand keywords to really sit back and relax

And then there is the headache of conversions

Page 1 on google should generate lots of traffic until it is for some useful phrase ... like I have few ... but for some which is popular I get 20-25 visitor per day

Yeah competitive keywords are the main key!

I've noticed that I have pages that are in the top 10 for completely random phrases that don't even exist on my website. There must be some web gnomes around confusing googlebot.

You say you have one site at first position on Google. How many visitors / day you have from this keyword ?

I think digital point probably has way more members and hence hits per day than the official google adsense forum, but is also more popular because being independent it allows you to talk about stuff that google won't! :-)
My forum is on the rise, in general I keep it free flowing allowing no personal attacks etc. Other than that and killing off the spammers selling cheap ipods via hotmail accounts......
