If you're using Google AdSense, you'll probably want to change your policy privacy because Google is now placing tracking cookies through their network to serve more relevant ads. The example they use is that if you frequent sports website, you'll more likely be served sports ads.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. Supposedly there is no personally identifying information in the cookies, but there aren't really any guarantees on what information Google privately collects on each user. The program is optional for users with Google accounts (not for publishers), but it's an active opt-out, rather than an active opt-in. The upside is that it will most probably result in higher click-through-rates. Any thoughts, anyone?
I think it'll be great for everyone with low cpc sites... google will show stuff they think might give them more money. Looking forward to giving it a shot
I also received the e-mail, I'm hoping for the best. You just gota figure they want me to make more money so they in turn can make more money. The thing I wonder is how will we know when the change has taken place? Just go by the date in the e-mail?
Google announces their new advertising program "interest-based advertising" based on users interests and uses cookies. In order to participate in this program sites privacy policy must be changed.
