Can anyone tell me if it is ok to have more than 3 adsense blocks on a page? I thought I had read somewhere on their TOS that you had to have 3 or less?

I cannot seem to find that again.

I modified a site to have 3 adsense units and a Link Unit. I now make double what I used to make (approx $10.00 per day). It is all due to strategic placement of the Links (I think). Traffic is pretty much the same as before.

Ad placement has a very important role on the amount of clicks you get
