Hey, I'm with you ... I'm not a tremendous AdSense publisher, but you need to figure out the best placement of your ads within your content and see what makes you the best money.

I'd love it if someone "in the know" can throw up some pointers.

Here's what Google has to say about it, for what it's worth.

I started reading it some times ago, and so far I find that Tim gives some good pointers.
Now I should try to take the time to apply them to my sites...

You'll hear a lot from people who claim to make $50 per day. Visit their site to find out how! Problem is, a few weeks later these same people are asking for tips on how to make more than .50 a day. Most of them are full of ----. You need CONTENT and TRAFFIC! There really is no other way. Especially if you want to keep your Adsense account. I know you've seen these people. "I started a blog three weeks ago and now I get 500 clicks per day and make $3000 per month." Don't be gullable! It does'nt matter which program you use. If you have very little traffic, then you'll get very little money.

I believe that you should refrain from AdSense until your site is ready for it.

That way you can gain trust and build up a community, then slowly work the ads in,
