My website (blog with many photos) is currently pulling about 1c per visitor through Adsense

I would like to know how this compares to others who have been doing this for a while.

It is a blog about myself (living life tall and hugely muscular), bodybuilding, wrestling, living in Thailand and the movies I have worked in / trying to get a part in.

My readership is predominantly male, of varying ages (20 - 50).

Is 1c per visitor good earnings?

Sure, if you have a million visitors per day. Now that you know that you are making 1 cent per visitor your questions should be...

1. How do I get more visitors?
2. How do I get 2 cents per visitor?

I have a site that makes over 3 cents per page view.

what's your CTR like? If 1:20 clicks an ad, and you convert 1:100 for a $30 commission, that's 100*20 = 2000 visitors will make you $30 or about 1.5c a click.
But if your CTR is better than 1:20 and you convert better than 1:100 ...

Why does it depend on number of visitors? An average is an average as long as there is a large enough statistical sample.

To the other posters I am purely discussing Adsense at the moment. I am writing additional premium products to sell and I am awaiting Azoogle to give me membership. The PPA networks I have tried so far I have been completely less than impressed with the payouts or quality of reporting (and sometimes accuracy) so I only want to play with Azoogle for now.

At the moment I am just interested in my Adsense earnings, whether they would be high or low on the average as I am thinking about trying other networks but I want to prioritise my work.

1c per visitor is low in general.... u should be able to get 3 to 5c or even more... try playing with your adsense placement on your site.

As a site gets more visitors on average its the amount of earnings per visitor goes lower. If you look atthe top sites out theresuch as myspace, youtube you will see that happening.

The numbers are very important. If you get 1c per vistor, but only get 10 visitors a week it's pretty poor. On the other hand 1c per visitor with 1 million views a day is large difference...

Heh I've looked at your blog, without reading many of the articles it seems the main focus is acting and bodybuilding so maybe you should focus your advertising in this direction?

At the moment on the front page I see ads for single girls in Thailand and flights to Thailand which are not marketing to your core group.

When I click on a link, i.e biography. Over half the page is taken up with non related ads which is a little off putting. Perhaps you could structure these to mix in with the content more naturally. Even worse the navigation buttons on the left have gone on this page so I had to use the back button to get to the home page.

Maybe another idea is looking for some products that you could sell related to your core market although this may be difficult for you living in Thailand.

Another suggestion is to make the pic up at the top links as they're so prominant. I was trying to click these at first as this is what I assumed they were.

Thanks Johnny, that is a good idea with the top graphic - it was just a temporary piece that seems to have become permanent.

Yesterday I went to my site with the Adsense preview tool and I noticed all the Thai ads, so I started adding them to my Blocked List. Buggers, Google is looking after it's own interestes completely, those Thai ads get nothing i guess and I only have maybe 10 articles involving Thailand at most, in fact they were not even on there when I last checked with the Adsense tool. Maybe that will bring my earning back up.

xboxundone - thanks - that is the sort of info I was looking for. So basically it looks like it is worth my time to stick with Adsense for the time being and see if I can fix my average earnings.

PS I blocked a bunch of MFA sites the other day as my earning were terrible. I now make 1/2 the ctr but *2 the money I was making before I blocked all the MFA sites. Anyway off to check the preview tool again and block some more crud.

THANKS.
