What's the best spot to put adsense in wordpress? on one of my blogs, i get about a 4% CTR using top-of-post banners along with a header link unit.

I think most of the clicks are actually people hitting the site from google, seeing an ad, then leaving -- not users who revisit.

I'm putting together some new blogs, and I'm trying to figure out what units to work with.

Do I force squares into the content? Do i put a skyscraper in the sidebar? I want to be able to fit Adsense, chitika, text-link-ads, azoogle, etc. all in, and I want to engineer this from the get-go, rather than build then fit the adsense in where convenient.

The more I blog, the more I feel like PPC isn't the best way to monetize my efforts. I don't want people to leave the site (as you said), I want them to stay and form friendships with me. Then I can shove $997 eBooks down their throats.. muahahah.

Seriously though, I think AdSense is only best if you can deliver very accurately targeted ads, and Google struggle to do that in some niches.
