Can you please post some websites that are great examples of how adsense ads should be blended into a website? My ads definitely stand out as ads, and I think I need to work on the blending bit. Looking for some inspiration!

Indeed, that is a good idea for blending.. however - I have seen a site with that exact layout before (a discussion on sitepoint) - and they were made to change their layout (by Google) because it was too blended? Eer.. Yeah. They were made to change the background color slightly of the adverts

Wow, that is really good blending. Too bad that style wouldn't really work for me though. I don't have any area on my sites to list links like that.

Yeah well the site was being sold by Greg-J at DP and he said he worked closely with Google to ensure the placement was 100% google allowed

Yeah, he always asks Google before selling a script, I feel safe with his scripts (even though I haven't purchased any, yet)

So readers are not misleaded, or let's say totally misleaded by the look of the ads and think they are links, probably these had such a good CTR that Google decided to send him something about it.

John Chow recently posted on his blog about adsense blending... supposedly the techniques he demonstrates are suggested by AdSense themselves! It mainly describes how you are allowed to change the font size, letter spacing, word spacing, ect... so the ad blends with the text on your website perfectly.

If you earn a substantial amount with Google you become a premium publisher and can do it all Use the Adsense hook to stylise your links and what not. Digg.com are premium, just look at those links, **** it the big always get bigger

Just so you know, if a google adsense admin sees that they will require that site to change to make it stand out more. thats too good of blending (though effective).
The ethical reason for blending is so the users dont become ad blind because they constantly reconise the ads (think of banner ads and how you ignore these automaticly on alot of sites). This is also why google wants you to blend, cause it makes them more money. Especially in the long run.
the unethical reason for blending is to cheet and trick users. This works great for you the publisher but sends unqualified users to the advertiser and empties their pockets. Great in short run, but in long run, those advertisers put less into the budget cause they are not getting a good return on their money (alot of users just hit the back button after clicking the link unintentionally). Plus if google thinks your tricking more than treating (hey i came up with that myself!, yeah for me) they will ask you to change it or ban your account. But probably will request the change before a ban. It hurts google because they make money by having "good" turnover rates, if they become known for having crapy converstion, they will have to lower their cost to be able to keep the business and we all loose that way.
Ok, that was just my 2 cents!
