Ok this is BS

I go in and create a new campaign targetting pretty much all of the same religious keywords I have on my site.

I hit the button and every keyword is disabled because Google is holding it for a $10 per click ransom! (some $5).

Now I know for a fact that publishers are getting paid less than $0.50 per click on those ads because I have those very keywords on my site and diplay adsense on those pages.

So is this how Google is making it's money these days and why it's become notorious for the 1 to 3 cent click? Have they baited us all in then slowly increased their cut over the years till they get $9.50 and we get $0.50?

I don't get it

Are you confusing their search network ads with their content network ads?

If you have a lot of money to spend on them, then they can be mighty effective.

The reason your stuff was $10 and %5 was because google decided your landing page was crappy... If you point right to an affiliate landing page or you have a pretty empty one with affiliate links on it google can decide your page is crap and not give you traffic.

Same here in the Philippines. They say Adwords is the way to go in site promotion.
