Hi all,

Im not a big earner...in fact since 2004 i've only had 1 $100 payout from adsense. However recently i have been more and more interested in making money through AdSense.

I have an arcade site (www.arcadesplash.com) and with little promotion im getting just over 1200 uniques a month.

I dont know why, but im only making between 0.12 and 0.50 a day with 1-3 clicks. Yet i see sites with 100 visits a month and poor content making $5-10 a day...how?

I am totaly stumped as to why i cant seem to generate any income...could anyone point me in the right direction? I've gone through so many ebooks and guides that its not even funny anymore

Thanks for your help.

Rick

Adsense gets more accurate and more profitable over time. It is still finding out what your users will click on right now. Give it some time. Also, while I haven't researched it or anything, I don't think an arcade site will have a lot of high paying bids.

What sites are those then? I'd love to learn their secret if they are making 5 to 10$ from 3 uniques a day!!

As mentioned - its all about traffic. People go to arcade sites to play the games, they are not there to click on adverts; i.e. the adverts are essentially irrelevent to them unlike on a targetted content-orientated site where the adverts might actually be clicked on as a "oh! that looks just like the sort of thing I was after." type thing - e.g. if they came to your site to read about looking after their pet goldfish, and there was an advert about it on your site then they are more likely to click it - on your site they have already "found what they want" so why do they need to click on ads? Thats my theory anyway.

It might be worth you trying out changing the adverts from adsense to something a bit more in your face - e.g. banner adverts for porn or something like that. I don't know your demographic but you might get some more interest from people then.

I wish I could make 5 dollars a day with 3 uniques. Just imagine 2oo uniques a day I could retire early!

1200 uniques a month is what like 40 uniques a day. You are making what I was making when I got that much traffic. Where did you hear about people earning 5-10 dollars a day with 100 uniques a month?

Also I own a free sms site that gets about 20-30 uniques a day and I am looking for exchanges. It would be good since we are both looking for about the same demographic. Good luck with your site.

PS my site is http://smsmachine.co.nr

You are probably targeting the wrong keywords or there aren't any high bids on keywords around your subject. Try research more keywords to put into the site, you might have untargeted google ads showing if you are targeting the wrong keywords.

One thing you can do to improve your earnings is improving your CTR.
To do so check out what other Arcade sites are doing..I've seen many of them with great ad blending (making ads look more like content)

First problem is that your keywords are targetted to junk stuff that pays really low. Other arcade sites with your keywords that are making $5-$10 a day get at least 1000 uniques a day. Work on the traffic.

You may need to do some research and modify your keywords. It will increase your traffics. 100/month is very low. :taz:

Look @ www.GameTray.net ads - if you're not a really moral person :P, do that, that will help your CTR alot. Alot of arcades do it.

Hi Rick,

I would recommend you to improve your website. What is the first thing people see when they come to your site?

Two blinking ads.

That if anything is taking all my attention. One blinking on the left side, while other blinking on the right side. No wonder nobody clicks your ads.

The google ads you are using at arcadesplash.com are not located in optimum positions. In your front page you've placed one google ad in the bottom left. That's easy to miss. Then you have two google banners in the center.

Basically your layout is too filled: why not try getting rid of the right bar, get rid of those blinking ads (they don't bring you traffic... they TAKE your traffic to other sites) and put the bottom left ad to top left? You could also try different ad formats (such as 336x280).

Also your game page (after you click one page) looks cluttered with ads, colors, and everything to grap user's attention. The ads you've placed around the game might not be in good position... why not try (again) one ad in the top left and then some other type of positioning for the other ads?

One option could be to put one big ad in the top banner - to replace 'traffic network' ad for example?

Briefly put, I think your site needs improvements in these areas:
- layout: there's simply too many competing ads
- colors: there's too many bright and different colors to take attention away from the ads
- animation: the blinking animated ads take user's attention right away

Hope you find this useful.

Maybe because you are false advertising... you're not the #1 arcade site, I guarantee that.

You definitely need more traffic. 1200 uniques a month isn't much, to make some serious dough you'll need at least a few thousand uniques a day.

Don't expect miracles from 40 uniques a day.

It's brainlessly simple - it's all about the niche you are in. The more money in your niche, the more money you make. You don't seriously ask a question why a lawyer makes $100-300 an hour, while a janitor makes only $8? Janitor obviously works harder. Plus, oftentimes lawyer doesn't actually do any work, the parallegals do.

If you venture into profitable niches where the money is, say CRM software that costs thousands to several hundred thousands, you'll make a ton of money, provided you get RELEVANT traffic.

Do the math, normally most people averaging 1% CTR, that is 1 click with 100 unique, and normally 1 click fetch $0.1

so if you got 100 unique per month, you can expect to have 1 click with a profit of $0.1, 1000 unique per month, you can expect to have 10 click with profit of $1.

Hoping that with 100 unique per month to yield you $300 is unrealistic and everyone will become rich in no time.

Traffic does help alot, targetted traffic who want to play games

Also fill your page up with ads i went on it and theres not enough ads, and they dont stand out to me so i wouldnt click one if i was a user
