Hi,

I seem to be getting a BIG difference in the number of page impressions showing up in adsense and the number of pageviews on my server stats.

Is there a reason for this?

Although I can't give the exact number of page views, as an example it is ratio of 2 to 10. That is 2 adsense page impression for very 10 pageviews.

Also, I have a custom channel setup for the home page of driverchange.com and there was not one Adsense page impression for the 8/2/2006.

I find it very hard to believe that no one would visit the home page, yet the adsense reports do not show any page impressions for that day.

I am doing something wrong?

I really hope you can help me out.

I feel like I missing out on income

are you using logfiles? if so, are you sure you aren't mistaken 'hits' for 'pageviews' ?

I also see a difference, but not as huge as a 2:10 ratio..

Request != Impression

I would suggest signing up for http://www.google.com/analytics/ . (Its FREE) I have found that the number of pageviews it records tracks very closely to my adsense. The only downside to google analytics is that it only updates the stats 4 times a day. But its other features offset that. Its an excellent free service.

yeah, I use Analytics for my day-to-day stat logging, mostly because I feel that they're a lot more authoritative than just about anything else... at least, if I were quoting my stats to a potential CPM advertiser, I think they'd put more stock in Google's numbers than whatever hittracker I downloaded off the web.

I also use Mint, and I've found its numbers track pretty closely to Analytics as well, but is more realtime. Doesn't have near the same featureset that Google does, but gives me better track of my referrers and lets me see where my traffic is coming from, what searches I'm strong in, etc. Helps me tweak the site by the hour, whereas Analytics is a daily thing at best.

Your problems is probably that you're using server stats because they include bots and non-js-enabled users. So you really can't compare those stats - not even if you substract the pageviews done by known bots because there's many kinds.

Another thing you should consider is to make alternative ads and implement them to your adsense. Then track those ads - it's an iframe - so you can just check the number of pageviews of your "ad page" in your server stats. If it shows up often - then it's because adsense doesn't have any ads to show or don't want to.

But it's very normal with huge variations.

I also use Google Analytics and the number are different also.
Also I'm not mistaking hits for pageviews, but thanks for the suggestion.

Bots will be one stat i had forgotten and also people with javascript disabled.
Though 2 to 10 sounds extremely low to me

You could simply have many pages without ads on them but that have the analytics in the footer of every page...

Did this suddenly start happening? I know all of a sudden my Ad impressions are much higher than normal as well. It just doesn't ad up. This started happening when the Firefox Adsense extension stopped working so I am suspecting Google changed something on their back end.
