Anyone have any information on whether you can make more money with adsense by using Google's "AdSense for search" search bar instead of your own sites search tool? It says on googles site that you get money if they use the google search bar because they show ads on the results page. But alternatively if they use my wordpress search then I am showing ads on the results page anyway, so does it really matter?

At least if they use my searchbar they cant get taken away from my site by entering another search term. On google search bar, maybe they can search for something else on the results page and be taken back to google. I haven't tested this though.

Wouldn't they have to click on the ads for it to count though?

They pay you every time an ad is clicked on the search results.

I'd stick with your blog search though.

it totaly depends on the purpose of the search;
do you offer the users a way to search the web in case they didn't find anything on your blog? Go with AdSense search

I have tried to implement Adsense search but I personally don't like it.

Instead I use the search built into Wordpress but customize my archives/search results pages because the price per click tends to be particularly good on those pages.

I've thought about going back to the Adsense box but I feel like it takes the reader too far away from my page. I want them reading as long as possible, and then clicking or buying something.

I've been using Adsense for search for some time and haven't had any problems with it, but the $$$ (pennies, actually) earned are WAY lower than regular Adsense. Can someone explain why? I would think these clicks would be just as valuable, maybe more valuable, than regular content clicks.

Adsense search is not worth it. Just use the search engine on your website. Searching with Adsense the user has to search and click a link in their search results for you to earn money (and the search may not pay much).

It probably depends on the keyword the user is searching. If a user is searching and clicking a low-paying keyword then you will not earn much for the click.
