hi there,

i'm curious for my sites -- what adsense blocks seem to work the best? maybe it's because i'm a bit old school when designing ads in, but banners and link units seem to fit in easier.

but, there are box-style ads, and all other kinds.

what generally works better? i have found some success in link units, so i'd think if you can display 4 or 5 ads per ad unit, you've got more chance to get a relevant click.

what's the consensus?

In my case, 336x280 works best.

depending on how content is presented on the page.
forums make good 720x60 or 420x60. blogs do good with 250x250 or 280x336.
square ad blocks are known to be the best

For me, 250x250 ad blocks without borders placed inside contents works best..

I thought you meant blocking low CPC and MFA sites

Use the large rectangle ads, get them right in with your content and use a colour sheme that is simple and compliments the design of your site. Also try not to use a site design that offers the visitor loads of alternatives to click on, make it so the ads say I'm a primary feature of this site! Use the right technique and a CTR of 25% is possible in certain niches without doing anything that breaks Googles rules.

Hi Topix, can you post an example of a site with such a high CTR, please?

I'm surprised no one mention the link unit.

It need 2 clicks to earn a revenue but I find it doing surprisingly well.

I changed all my pages on my site to one 336 x 280, and a google search box at the bottom, seems to work better for me.

I think the bottom line is that you have to try different things.... always. never get passive. Keep trying new things... you may find that what works one month doesn't the next.
