I average over 1200 uniques per month on my blog. I have had adsense on my blog since October of last year. I have yet to make $100 TOTAL.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get people to click?

I need help!

Tricking your visitors is probably the number one way. But it depends how smart your audience is aswell.

Blend your ads into your site contents.
Not tricking them but to counter their ad-blindness and make the ad more prominent to your readers.

you're basically hiding the ads now, make it part of your content... like this

i went for a walk today. i saw a cat and a dog. dog was brown and cat was yellow. they were best friends. i like friends, friends are good, my space is down and im mad. I have a cat that is big. Big is big thats why its big
---------------------------------------------
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGLE ADS
---------------------------------------------
once Dog ate a cat, cats are very violent animals, but they are not really. I once fought a cat, then i threw it on my monitor, resulting my monitor to brake. I was very mad, then I sued samsung for not making their monitors bulletproof....

you get the point

So you're saying that the ads should be in the middle of the post? Can you suggest a site where I can see this in action? I couldn't find any ads on the site in you sig.

Check out my website and play "spot the adsense" game. I'll bet that at first glance you'll never actually see the ads.

Some other sites that have great implimentation are Lockergnome and World Village

I've also got an article which has helpful tips on designing your website especially for a high click-through rate here

Hi, it's quite common and it works.
As for your site, I would recommend matching the ad block in the side column to the site's colors. You also show an ad block at the very bottom of each page, again with very distinctive colors. This, according to my experience, doesn't work. What about placing the block between the articles (on the homepage) and blending it in?
The ad block under the article's title is just fine, although I would replace the yellow link color with either gray or white. You may also try adding an additional right-aligned ad block INTO each article (directly in the text). Whether this would work depends on the length of the article.

Yeah, change it, experiment with it, test it and then share the results with us.

Ok I've made the changes you all suggested.

Take a look at the blog link in my signature and tell me if you think I will get more clicks.

Thanks!

Good.
How about placing the banner format between the 1st and 2nd, 4th and 5th and between, say, the 8th and 9th post on the homepage? Adding a small decent picture to the right of each block would help as well (this goes for the banner format under each article as well).
As for the articles - instead of the banner format right under the title it could IMO work better to place a medium rectangle or square format in the text, aligned either to left or right.

OK, I think we might be heading outside my skill level a little bit. I am using wordpress. Is there an easier way to do what you are suggesting besides pasting the adsense code into the file everytime I post?

On another note, why do you suggest the bigger rectangle or square?

Pasting the code manually is not a good choice. Either you tweak the Wordpress code or you can always play around with the CSS positioning.

Because these formats (rectangles above all) usually have the best performance. But then again - it doesn't mean the other formats are useless. Sometime (often) less is more.
You should try it out, however, and decide yourself after you have some results.

3 suggestions here:
[1] Change adlink placement from top to right hand sidebar
[2] Use images next to ad units at the bottom
[3] Use 250x250 ad unit in contents

PM me if you need clarifications and samples.

A few people have mentioned placing images by the ad blocks. What type of image are we talking about and what size?
