What are your thoughts on "made-for-adsense" websites? Do you have any? Are they unethical in any way?

I'm just wondering. And is there really a practical way to make money from it? Is it just an issue of traffic?

I think Google has a really good haunch about these sites and if they catch them, I have heard that they usually ban them immediately.

They ban them? Really?

How would you define a made-for-adsense website?

usually the sites that have adsense ALL over them, and they have been around for 6 months or more... They're pretty quick on it too.

usually making your own content is the best idea

I haven't made an MFA site yet but I've made a lot of "made for money" sites, hehe.

Usually MFAs get smart-priced by Google. They don't necessarily ban you.

The ones that are getting banned are probably the ones that are blatantly violating the TOS, that's what I think.

Oh... hmm.
I've heard that people get banned just for having very popular sites. I'll look into my references and see where I got that idea from.

Thanks

Custom made unique content is unbeatable, and I think people appreciate reading it a lot more than something just thrown together in an attempt to make ad revenue.

I don't think Google bans the sites so easily...sometimes it becomes difficult to ascertain which sites are specially made for Adsense and which are not!

oh, I'm talking about the sites that have been out for a long tiem and get resold and resold on ebay and other large sites... Like ones that have 20,000 copies on the web... I think google could figure out that these sites aren't unique...

Google will get rid of the sites they don't want.

Yeah, sites like that, while they can be made for adsense, aren't necessarily... but I see your point, and I agree. Google does penalize them - and should.

I don't believe Google spends a lot of time banning MFA websites. (IMO) They love them. I asked about this video (because I was interested in giving it a try myself) and the response was very politically correct but I got the distinct impression that they don’t necessarily have a problem with it.

(Go to youtube and search for “adwords abuse”) It’s a tutorial that has been thinly disguised as a complaint or protest. Wink, wink.

A lot of sites are made with monetization (specifically adsense) in mind and I don't see any problems with that. In fact when launching a site it's probably a good idea to have some inclination on how you'll monetize it.

What oftentimes happens though is that people throw up crap with non-unique content and slap ads on. You end up seeing the same content over and over in a slightly different layout and it just adds to the crap floating around, makes it harder to find real information.

Just wanted to chime in here - Noobs that are wanting to break into the Adsense / YPN game are more likely to buy a batch of these sites and throw them up on the web without customizing them and adding unique content - or even changing the look or feel - This is where they are penalized - and sent into the depths of SE hell for no one to find. Don't forget about the crappy duplicate content that 1.37 million other puslisher have used (pulled the number from you know where) -

An idea that may work for these sites is to throw a wordpress blog on the backend of them and update the content daily - with fresh unique writing of their own or purchased..stepping off of soapbox..

ya, so far i believed that "Made For AdSense" sites where low-quality sites made exclusively to *publish* AdSense ads, not the sites that *advertise themselves* through adsense.

MFAs, Made for AdSense Adwords ads? Maybe?
Did I miss something in the thread?

In the beginning, when Google Adsene was launched, I quickly made a website with unique content. I made a good design and set-up my website. The content was helpful to some members. I promoted my website in a popular topsite and got it to the top (by asking friends and e-mailing others to vote for it). The topsite was really popular, so I started getting alot of visitors. I got 800-1000 unique visitors per day. I made around $200 on Google Adsense. I didn't have much time to work on my website after that, and the topsite always reset every 7 days. I started loosing votes because I wasn't updating my website and slowly traffic decreased and because I didn't have the time, I had to shut down my website. It was barely making $10 in the second month. This month, I will try to create 2 websites on different topics, unique content, and design. It'll be updated with fresh content regularly. My goal is to generate a good amount with Google Adsense. I'll post back here if all goes well.

Just about every other day somebody comes out with a new made for adsense package, containing anywhere from 100 to 300 pages and I would have to think that a lot of people are buying or they would not keep bringing them to market. Now making $ with them is just like anything else, how much time and effort you put into it, weather you customize them, google has got to love them I mean they have a parked domain program for just for adsense, anything to get the ad up on the web seems to be their motto.
