Notice to the Moderators, the three links have been taken care of......

Thanks Chris! Maybe an early prelude to Thursday or trial run?

I guess Thursday came early this week. Maybe it has something to do with the impending end of the Mayan calendar and all the doom that will follow.

Does that mean we're now frozen in time in spammer purgatory.

Why is this site such a target?? Some of my forums never see spam... I feel bad for the staff sometimes.

Maybe we should put an IP ban on users from India? Opps I didn't just say that did I?

Depends how popular a forum is as to how much spam it gets. It's also a matter of how easy it is to find URLs. If you put out an xml sitemap for example it's more than search engines that can find it and speaking of search engines, the more your content appears, the more likely spammers can find it too. There's also a matter of the perceived value of links from the forum. This place has been around awhile and I assume has a decent PageRank after all these years. I'm sure those who think forum links valuable look here for those links.

XML/RSS feeds are what are often being used to guide the posting bots, it's a bit like 'pavlov's dog' and they respond to certain words then send a request to the server URL

And of course there is the xRumer bot

If you are talking about xRumer, I wasn't praising it

I noticed that about xml/rss. I've been publishing an rss feed for years, but recently started publishing an xml sitemap and the spam comments have gone way up. They all get caught by my spam plugin, but the increase is startling.

And I agree about not praising xRumer as I'm sure you know.
