"Curry" is actually a word invented by the British to name the spiced stews that they discovered in India. It possibly derives from the name of an Indian cooking pot.
Korma is a curry recipe with a mild sauce using coconut.
Chicken Tikka Massala has become (some say) the British national dish, overtaking even fish and chips in popularity. Chicken pieces are served in a mildly-spiced and creamy sauce.
A few years ago, a prominent British politician visited India. He gave a speech in which he hoped to please the Indian listeners by mentioning that Chicken Tikka Massala had become our national dish. The Indian audience were mystified. They had never heard of Chicken Tikka Massala. It was invented in Glasgow to suit British tastes.
Tikka means grilling spiced pieces of meat on a skewer, like kebabs. Garam massala is an aromatic mix of Indian spices used in stews. In India, the two cooking methods are not traditionally combined.
