Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't been around, but i decided to take my daughter fishing and ended up having to be rescued by the coastguard! My girl became quite ill and as our car was washed away we have been staying with friends. We are two extremely lucky girls!
Hope I catch up with you all soon
Love Deb x

Hi GhettoCars
Thanks for the welcome back & I'am feeling ok now. It was my girl and I that fell in the water the car was washed away from the estuary inlet near the beach! Think my poor old ute is going to take a bit of work to get back on the road though.
Take care
Love Deb x

I was kinda wondering where you went the other days, I was remembering the first PM I got and it was from you that you were just saying hi. I was wondering where you had gone. Glad you feel good.

SO let me get this straight>>>
You parked to close to the inlet near the beach. Then you went off to fish. Then the TIDE started coming in. By the time you noticed this the tires had already sunk some and was STUCK in the sand. Then all you could do is watch your car go farther and farther under water??? GEEZ, that would be a really really bad day.
Secondly, while standing by the inlet you both fell in?
But the important part is that you are both okay.

Hi Miss Deb,
Glad to hear you're both fine.
Now, this is the Shoot the Breeze Forum, so tell us the whole story. Inquiring minds want to know.
Well, share as much as you want.
How many fish did you catch? Or was your car the catch of the day?

Hi there Dave & Conkermaniac!
Thanks for the welcome back Unfortunately Dave my girl got catch of the day which annoyed me more than the ute floating away!
Cheif you were petty close but you made it sound like an "only a girl could do that!" predicament...so now I'll have to tell the story!
Packed up the ute grabbed my girl & headed to Ardrossan (Yorke Peninsula) as they were catching King George Whiting and snapper were on the run. We were going to spend the day at Rifle Range Beach & fish on the jetty that night. Car started to slide so I set up my girls rod chocked the ute & looked for help before we became too bogged. Next minute my girl starts yelling & pulls in a great double header of K.G.Whiting...she couldnt even pick them up! I was so envious! By the time i had got the fish into the bucket we were cut off, water was rising quicker than i had ever seen there before & we were running out of daylight fast. Then we saw two lads on trail bikes scoping what they could thieve from the car, screamed to them for help & they left us knowing we would probably be washed away (they'd want to pray i never get hold of them). That made my daughter go to pieces & the poor thing fell in (and lost her catch) as we headed for higher ground. Darkness fell so we could go no further. I wrapped my girl (who's 10) in my Driza-Bone (riding coat) and the fly from our tent & just held her to keep her calm. The look of total fear in her eyes is something I'll never forget. At 11 30 pm someone finally heard our cries for help. By this time my girl was hypothermic as it was only 2°c and she was saturated. Whole town came to help but we could only be reached by boat. Three boats were called to help and the coastguard rescued us around 12 am and here we are...alive & well! We were told later that it was an unforcasted freak tide...biggest in 50 years...another half an hour or so & we wouldnt be here.
Hope I haven't bored you all!
Take care
Love Debxxx

That was a very interesting story and a close call. It probably didn't seem interesting while it was happening. Thanks for sharing.
We're all glad you're both safe! So where's the car now?
By the way, I don't think Chief meant it as a "only a girl could do that!" predicament. I think it was like my reaction when I read the first part of the story, shock at the chain of events that happened.

Yes I do think this will be one for the grandkids!
Sorry Chief & Dave...was actually having a laugh when I mentioned the "girl thing"! I live in a small country town & all the local farmers here are giving me the "girl thing" lecture as i dont mind sitting at the bar with the best of them, and saying I'm much better! Dont think they are used to girls like me...and this is the perfect opportunity for them to give back what I've dished out! Dont you hate that! Sorry if i offended anyone...probably dont have much I can contribute here as I came to learn. Please let me know if I'am boring or annoying anyone.
Feel like an idiot now telling my life stories...can someone please delete it!
Take care
Love Deb xxx
Ooops...sorry Dave...cars in the driveway, have started stripping it & will hopefully fish oil it next week. As for the rest of the car...It's all full of water, so I'll have to wait & see. x

Delete it? No way! Well, I guess if you really really wanted it deleted.........then we might do that.
This is the Shoot the Breeze forum.
Remember that contributing here is sometimes asking the questions. Everyone needs to learn. I think we've learned here that we should carefully choose our fishing partners.

Does this mean the fishing trip I had planned for us all is out of the question???
Is there anyone here who specialises in the field of teaching "everything"?
Take care all

When is the fishing trip!!
You don't "bore" us with your story. I found it very interesting (shocking)...Again, Im just glad you both were okay. Pretty scary to be stuck out in the ocean when the sun is going down (without a boat )

Let's not be hasty.......when's the trip? Most of my fishing experience is on lakes and rivers (for Largemouth Bass). Haven't done much pier, surf, or ocean fishing.

Is that like the "Train the Trainer" programs?
Actually, when it comes to webmastering, I believe there's some very intelligent and knowledgeable members here that could help with just about anything asked. If one member doesn't know the answer, I'd bet there is another member that does. At the least, someone will know where to find the answer.

Sorry Dave...I love being hasty! ...lucky thing having bass in your lakes & rivers! Freshwater fishing usually takes a reasonable amount of skill...so I bet you'd make a fine sea fisherman! Cheif good point about the boat...do you think pontoons on the ute will work?

No more like a "train the untrained" program!
master of nothing...willing to learn everything...if anyone has the patience!
Take care

Since anyone can ask questions, and since anyone can answer the questions, and no one has to answer all questions, then someone will answer the question, and the sum total of patience of everyone that answers questions will probably be greater than what's needed to answer the questions of anyone, then ask.
Did anyone understand that? So, ask those questions!
