Update on kitty rescue

Several people asked to be updated when I had everything ready, so, rather than sending out a series of private messages, I thought it would be easiest to start a new thread.
I've set up a page to accept small donations for the vet. He's in great overall health. The kidneys are a little weak, but he's 14 years old, so that's pretty normal. The vet says he probably has another three or four years left. The eye sort of came apart; the retina detached. It's not causing him any pain, and doesn't put the other one in danger.
Michael - his name according to the chip - has a great personality. He's curled up in a ball next to my leg on the couch as I'm writing this. He has a good rest of his life ahead of him.

Count me in, bro. I just PayPaled you. Says that it went through right away, but I've found that being in Hoserland that it takes 5-7 business days.
You're going to have a bit of a tough time with this, though. As morbid as this is about to sound, if this cat had been abused to the point where he was dying or if he had some obvious signs of trauma or something (I originally thought the eye had been caused by trauma) then that would be a lot easier to garner sympathy (and money).
Don't get me wrong or anything...it's still a very decent and noble act on your part, and you're a good man (that's why I chipped in), but "a cat with weak kidneys" just doesn't tug at the heartstrings the way "a cat with permanent and/or life threatening injuries caused by abuse" would. I'm trying to figure out a way to link to your blog post from my blog and I can't figure out a thing that would help.

Thanks!
And yeah, you're right ... an old cat with weak sympathy doesn't really tug on the heart strings so much. In my defense, though, the main thing is that I'm just trying to pay the vet back.

Though the cat's issues may not be as heart-riping as an abused cat with permanent injuries, the guy has still experienced a home and has been abandoned. We make comparisons and abuse is terrible, but abandoning is a form of abuse that is also terrible.
Okay, so I got to get over to the site now and make a contribution. Forrest, I hope others follow suit for your new friend!

What is wrong with you man? Do you have to ask why?
If your parents never told you why, then I will and maybe you learn something
For the same reason caps don't shot you for being lost and wondering around

Because the cat didn't do anything wrong and there isn't a reason to put it to sleep. If Forrest can give the thing 3 or 4 years of quality life, then this is all worth it. (I can't believe I just said that. I'm a dog man.)

You shouldn't put a cat to sleep unless it is in major pain or just from being to old. If it has a good 4 years thats a lot for a cat. Thats so sad I wish I had extra money to give ya.

My donation has been processed
He's such a beautiful cat who's used to being loved.. to bad that love only lasted until it was inconvenient for the owner ! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
I have to keep my male cat on special food, it can be a bit pricey but I don't care as long as he's healthy. Keeping him on the special diet is a LOT cheaper than vet bills !
I posted a link to your page over on my other forum as promised.
