I thought it was stupid stuff and that NPR was wasting time about it. I mean, who cares if some TV shows go off the air, right? That'll force families to spend time together, people to have conversations, maybe we'll even get better sleep as a nation.

But then I read a blog that gave me an interesting thought. What if this is the turning point in history where TV joins the radio? It's only a matter of time before the internet takes over from TV as the dominant form of entertainment as well as communication and distribution of ideas. I thought that would be more like 2040, but with everyone's favorite TV show canceled indefinitely, maybe that day will happen in 2007 or 2008?

Yep - who cares! I watch very little TV as 99% of it is total crap, full of subtle advertising and aimed at the masses who have not got the brains to create their own entertainment.

Don't watch much TV personally, the two shows I really watch are put out by the BBC, Dr. Who and Torchwood. And even if they were affected by the strike those shows come out here the season after they air in Britain.

I watch RAW, Smackdown, Impact, and not much else. I'd barely notice if TV writers went on strike.

So you changed your logo to a WWF Panda in honor of WWE?

I thought professional wrestling was totally scripted?

Ahhh! I love doctor who!!! Torchwood is okay, but a lot more...well....intense...I guess?? Not sure what the right word is for it.

Anyway, if the writers don't get their fair share from the shows put on the Internet, then there will be no TV on the Internet either. From what I understand, that is what the writers are mainly upset about. The TV networks put the shows on the Internet, the TV networks get money from companies that advertise on these shows, then they don't give anything to the writers.

I love TV. I will be sad if it disappears. Especially because of greed.

Could not agree more. I watch 40 minutes a week (a one hour show minus commercials).

They can turn the darned thing off as far as I am concerned. I quit watching baseball after the third strike. This may do the same for TV.

I watch Star Trek, Discovery Channel, and some Encore Movies. But most of the time I can't find anything even on all the cable channels.

Time is better spent on the computer or reading

Regardless of how much tv you watch, there is the issue of people getting paid a fair wage. I don't know how much the writers make, but I'd imagine the good ones do well. However, it is my understanding the the writers do not get recurring royalties for the shows the way actors do. If that's true, I'd say it's quite unfair. I give the actors credit but without the writers, they would be lost. Maybe the actors should be sharing the wealth??
