For me these things worked a charm please feel free to post your personal experience as a data entry,excel and PDF related freelancer.

My tips are:
1: Bid only if you are certain you can do the Job.
2: Avoid projects which have a hint of captca typing. These are bid wasting projects for people searching for genuine data entry,excel and PDF projects.
3: Always show your true abilities to the employer, getting selected and not being able to do the job will hurt both you and the employer.
4: You do not have to bid less to be selected most of the time but bid wisely calculating the time required to do the job and value of your time.
5: Provide a sample of your previous work or create a quick sample to impress the employer if you have the time.
6: Try to start with payment verified clients, but give a chance to new clients too. A milestone payment is a MUST, request milestone payment before starting work. work only after the milestone is placed. Milestone keeps you safe from scams and assures your time will not be wasted.
7: Try to complete work as fast as possible and please maintain quality with speed. if you can not do that "slow and steady wins the race" works for you.
8: Communication is the key to a successful project, try to keep the client informed of important key developments of the project.

Nice tips but could you please tell what kind of sample work can one provide for data entry kind of work ?? and how can we check if some post is about captca typing ??

Very Simple ^__^. In data entry type of projects you will have to provide the client a sample of your work by doing a little of their provided sample or just search for some projects which have closed already but have some sort of sample material which was asked of other freelancer who bid in that project. If you can not provide the client with sample try to convince them that you can complete the project with utmost efficiency.

About the second part of your question. Just see if they are payment verified and have good reviews. You can also find out if there are other projects with the exact same details. Captca spammers have learned to copy other projects and paste them as their own and waste bids of people who are new or not paying attention.

can i ask, i'm new here in Freelancer and my bid has been approved yesterday. The work is for E-book Data Entry Work. This is my first day to work for projects like this but all i've been copying are in Captcha mode and i feel that it's a waste of time, since i am waiting for the code to load (and it takes 3-30 mins before the code shows).

Then since I am new, I got curious and click on his/her dashboard but all i see is that his/her account has been closed. Is it safe to think that there is no problem here? And if there is, is it alright if I don't do the job, or do is still have to continue doing the job for the days that I bid for it?

Please help.
