It was only a few years ago when I didn't know anything about forums or websites or that you could make money off of them. I was first exposed to HTML coding and making websites in a computer science class my sophomore year of high school. I became pretty interested in it and set off to make a website of my own after learning the basics in this class.
But, the beginner I was, didn't make a very appealing website. Not very easy on the eyes and no real topic, mostly containing "stuff I like". At the time I was proud of it though.
Now at the time I was just getting in to the forum world and enjoying posting and interacting with other members. But what I really wanted to do was run my own forum. So I set out to do this. I was beginning to learn about promotion and advertising and things of that sort, so I felt confident that I could run my own forum successfully.
So basically what I did was make a forum based off of some of the topics my first website had been about, namely gaming and technology. The forum went through several versions from various db failures and software changes, etc, but in my eyes it was successful averaging 50+ posts per day in its prime. When looked at by the casual eye, it is just another forum but it gave me the inspiration and motivation I needed to advance in the online world and try out bigger and better things. While my standards in terms of successfulness have since changed, my first forum was still a "success" to me.
