Back in 2001 I started DreamInCode.net with absolutely no intention of ever making any money. I just wanted to create a site where I could learn and meet other people interested in web design. I had no idea what monetization even was at the time. The site grew slowly the first 3-4 years with just a few new members a day. It was just a hobby at this point.

Jump to November, 2004 when my site began out growing the shared hosting and I needed a way to cover the cost of a dedicated server. I remember asking a friend what I should do and he pointed me to the AdSense homepage. I signed up and was accepted a couple days later and immediately began pasting the ad code on my pages. I can still remember logging in to my AdSense account the next morning and seeing the $0.78. I was ecstatic.

It took a couple months to get that first $100+ check but when I did I knew I had to reinvest it. I opened an AdWords account and spent $98.25 between January and February 2005. In the months following that I was accepted to TribalFusion and continued to reinvest and optimize ad placements. Now, 2 years later I'm making $XXX/day.

Today, the site has over 50,000 members and continues to grow by over 200 members daily. I continue to reinvest a large portion of my revenue but I've put away enough to make a substantial down payment on a first home for my Fiance and I. We are getting married in October of 2008 and the money I'm making from DreamInCode.net is going to let me take her on a great honey moon and live comfortably. Maybe some day I'll even quit my day job!

About the Site: DreamInCode.net is a programming and web development community for students, professionals, and hobbyists. The site is over
6 years old and has 50,000 members from 150+ countries. Visitors have free access to tutorials, code snippets, forums, and resources in 25 unique topic areas including C++, Java, Visual Basic, PHP, C#, ASP.NET, ColdFusion, Perl, Python, HTML, JavaScript, and more.

Grats, Sky. I visited the site a couple of times but never registered. I may do that soon if I find the will to learn how to code
