My organisation has 70 stores and we are looking implement online buying which we do not currently have. Unfortunately the store owners are are concerned that this will be taking profits from there stores. As each store has a geographical catchment area we are hoping to track sales back to their geographical location and distribute sales accordingly. Is there any efficient means by which sales can be tracked on a geographical babis?

Also , can anyone recommend any case studies or (general advice) for an organisations that successfully made the transition to online buying? Can any one advise me on the potential areas we should be mindful of?

I need some suggestions on what to target for keywords..

For instance, If you search google or bing etc for
real time live support software

My site comes on first page, generally near the top. ( imsupporting.com )

However i dont know what keywords to target and if the above is really any use?

What would you guys suggest for keywords
IE: what would you search for to find a site like mine?

Its a site that provides companys with one of those "click here to talk to us buttons "

I fear i may be targeting the wrong keywords.

Thanks

I have been doing some thinking lately about my website. I originally wanted to charge a membership fee for access to information. There is a alot of websites related to mine that provide some information for free. The only thing is alot of them just refer them to those companies because they earn referral income. However, mine provides legit companies that i have actually dealt with and consider them reputable. I was charging $10 with an option to be charged $5 if they complete a survey. I would not recieve as many customers as if it charge it for free obviously but would it be worth it to make it free and just collect the referral income? Just a little advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

hi, i have a couple websites i'm putting the finishing touches on and am going to be incorporating some affiliate links as a potential light revenue stream.

i have a few questions regarding the marketing and tracking of these products/services that i will be promoting, first of which is related to the tracking method these folks use to monitor the efforts of the affiliate marketing the product or service, they claim that they track the cookie for a set period of time, ie. 30-365 days depending on the merchant.

now my question regarding this method of tracking is; what about all those folks that use those adaware/spyware type programs that block cookies, delete cookies or the user just simply either deletes the cookie through the browser upon closing their browser each session or has their settings set in the browser not to accept cookies? does that effect the type of tracking method these affiliate marketing companies use to track the efforts of mine as an affiliate?

if so, wouldn't the same apply doing a direct opt-in email marketing campaign?

ie. potential customer/client of product/service recieves information from me by way of either through my website or a direct marketing campaign. decides to wait and think about it a few days, or weeks. within this time frame cookies and cache have been cleaned by the user, however decides now that a few weeks have passed that they want to buy and cruise on over to the product via a bookmark ready to buy, havn't my efforts just been null and voided? or am i just missing something here?

thanks for you input,
Perhaps there are companies out there that do all these most popular ad tricks for you? I can imagine that it costs some money for such service.
But what if someone where willing to pay to get that done.

Does any one know of such companies and maybe can list them?

I have googled it a bit and all i keep finding is automated search engine submission websites that promises alot of traffic. And also read reviews about how these kind of websites are total scams.

So of any one knows of any that are respectable and trust worthy, please list them here.

I've found after trying to run at least a FAIRLY successful website over a number of years that the most effective advertising for me has been word of mouth.

I've been thinking, now, of just finding my niche community online and then taking down IMs and going from person to person. Kind of like the equivilent I'd think of handing out flyers.

Now, I know it wouldn't be effective for getting 1000 people a day to my website, but at this point I would be satisfied with about 50 people a day. And if I got enough IMs together it would only take about an hour or so to do I'd think.

I'm not talking about a quick way of just spamming out a huge amount of IMs. That would be ineffective, I'd think, for getting good quality friends to your website.

I'm talking about starting a conversation with a bunch of people on IM and befriending them. You could really potentially get loads of niche return visitors to your website really fast this way.

I would guess it's like door to door sales kind of...

In a sense, I guess you could say that everything is essentially door to door sales, but the problem for me with any other kind of advertising has been low quality traffic that doesn't return again and again to view your project or product.

What are some things to look out for with this strategy? Anyone have anything to say on the subject?

First Question - Why does Google hate the Link Wheel? (I'm talking about let's say a group of six or eight Web 2.0 properties linking to each other (like in a circle) and each property links back to your site's landing page).

Many people claim the wheel is so powerful. If they are correct, then why is the wheel so strong? Even if Google catches on - temporarily, it seems to boost the main site up in the SERPs.

Why I did this?
Registration takes 2 minute for a visitor. When user register at a site, his intention diverts towards site for 2 minutes, he observe the site while registration in process. Its helps him to remember the site name..and because of registration he see more than what he need to know for site.
Also while registration the visitor provide their email addresses, When someone provide email address, Sometimes, Someway he attaches emotionally with website..

The reality is that many time we build relation with websites, Why it happens? We know whenever we want to search something out fingers jumped at keyboard for Google.com,
why we visit sites even they dont provide required information, but we keep on browsing pages to find something usefull? Why we visit forums even though we don't need anything every time?
Mostly it happens with two kind of sites. Whether with news sites or the sites having registration like forums..

So I was talking about registrations.. If your sites are having registration you can send weekly newsletters. If you dont want to send newsletters, just send ceremonial greets to your members with a beautiful card. (Dont send digital or Hi tech image as a card) Use sentimental, simple and friendly cards, Show your member that you care for them. Use members' name rather than, Hello member.. Use words like; We wait for your. You are out valuable member. We care for your membership. We miss you. A lot of new thing are waiting for you etc

Why to send such mails?
In case you lost your visitor even after membership. Ceremonial mails are best tools to let them recall that they are members of your site. Sometimes these mails rebuilds the relation between site and member.

Must Do
Add a avator option. If user upload his pic. It help to make strong relation with site.
Greet at the end of registration

Don't do this
Dont make a long registration Process
Dont ask very much details about visitor

Hey Guys-

I started this particular site about a year ago and have been cultivating it up until now. It's done well for a talent pool, and I relaunched this week with a new back-end. Throughout, though, I've had a huge problem -- since the beginning, I have yet to find a good source for "buyers" (clients, or project managers). I've been racking my brain for sources that are both realistic and reasonable. And I haven't found anything yet.

I'm in a market where, yes, there are a whole lot other sites out there; but it isn't as crowded as a market could be (think hosting, or social bookmarking sites). So far, I've just worked steadily in the traditional areas -- directory listings, SEO, we've been featured in a few articles, press releases (one of which was written by our guy, in all honesty), direct interaction (one-by-one personal invites, people ... talk about your long days). And not that robotic nonsense, either.

I did AdSense for a while, also, and that went great for a talent pool, but not so much for project creators at that point. And it got expensive. I do plan to do it again after this launch, but for now, I'd like to find more organic sources.

There was a bit of a lull this summer, which I spent touring. But this fall, after the relaunch, I have energy for a new push and I'd like to find a corner that I can approach, but I can't think of ANYTHING.

The problem with a site like this one is this -- people who want what I offer don't all hang out in the same place. And if they do, I can't think of where that would be. And if I did, I can't think of any ways to approach them that wouldn't be considered unsavory.

And no, this is not a solicitation. What I'd like from you guys here is maybe some ideas on how to attract buyers and where they might be found. I'm convinced that getting them in the door is enough, I'm just looking for promotion ideas.

(and yes, there are some blog comments out there, but the more I do it the more I find my fingers subconsciously fingering the characters for "cialis" on my keyboard. I don't mind doing it, but there has to be a "hangout" I'm not thinking of...?)
