Website needs improving

My website has been going for about 2 and a half years now, and apart from changing the header banner, footer and some of the images on the homepage, the only things that have changed are the products we sell.
Would appreciate some feedback regarding improving the site in general.

open link in a single table cell?

Hey there!
I have a problem with my webpage:

My idea was to click on the links as seen on the left frame
and they would open in the middle of the table on the right frame.
I need to fill out the whole cell and to have a scroll bar if
necessary!

Is there a way to do that without using javascript or php?

Matt's Script Archive FormMail Problem!

My client is registered with 123-reg.co.uk, and the only option for a contact form is to use the .cgi script known as something like "Matt's Script Archive: FormMail".

I keep getting the following error when attempting to submit the form:

I don't see what the problem is, I've configured the referers and recipients variables like so:

So why, why, in any rational universe, should the city of L.A. pick up the policing tab for Michael Jackson's obsequies at Staples Center?
For the Lakers' victory parade -- certainly a more civically significant event than the excesses that follow Jackson in death as they did in life -- the city found private donors because of the pushback of public opinion over subsidizing the athletic triumph of, as they say, millionaires working for billionaires.

So why is there now any thought at all of dipping into a city fund for ''extraordinary events'' to subsidize this one -- which, if a ''public viewing'' becomes part of the memorial, will turn the whole thing into a Michael Jackson corpse carnival?
An earthquake is an extraordinary event. But Michael Jackson's family deciding, gee, let's invite the world (or at least something above 17,000 members of the world) to mourn our relative -- extraordinary to them, and to Jackson fans, certainly, but hardly enough to stick it to the taxpayers of LA.
Council member Jan Perry said the city would ''deeply appreciate'' any private citizen coming forward to pick up the tab. ``Any company, entity, individual who would have such great love, the city would welcome the support,� she told the New York Times.
I nominate the Jackson family to pay the bill, perhaps going halfsies with AEG, which owns Staples (and was the promoter on Jackson's planned comeback concerts). The Jackson estate stands to benefit enormously from this. The undoubted live, free, worldwide news coverage of the memorial, the frenzy of 10, 20, 30 times more fans clamoring outside than can possibly cram into Staples, will generate mind-boggling sales of MJ music. The Staples name will figure into every video clip.
So why should the Jacksons' private arrangement with Staples to commemorate the passing of a man who was almost pathologically averse in life to the public's gaze become, in the end, a public burden?

An alternative to Dreamweaver?

I've tried Dreamweaver, and some other programs that I found on the web for maintaining and updating websites with ease, but, to me at least, they're all far too complicated for what I want to do.

For instance, when I want to update the footer on all of the pages on my website, I have to open up each text file (close to 80 of them right now) and copy&paste the updated html. Now, if I were running *nix/linux on a regular basis, I'd simply write a little script to replace text, but unfortunately I have to run Windows for certain software.

So my question is: is there a simple way to find+replace a certain text block on a batch of files in Windows? Maybe there's some little program or some obvious solution I'm overlooking?

I'm about to offer Forum Hosting and i was thinking. Let's say someone has a domain www.exampleforum.com

They get a forum at my hosting server example.myhost.com and they want to use www.exampleforum.com on their forum.

How do i do it? I know it's possible to do it mannualy (just add it as an Addon-Domain in my cPanel and point it to the forums location), but how do it with an automated way?

I just had a new website built and they did the first letter of my company name ( a "W" ) in a green circle with a web 2.0 type shading effect. I have attached a cropped image from a screenshot.

I would like to expand on this and have a logo designed for this. I want to keep the same sort of shade of green (like #285157) and have it as a circle with a "W" in it. Just use your design skillz to make it look slick. Feel free to ask any questions you like.

Hi Guys,

So I'm a programmer and have managed avoiding experimenting with PS or other graphic manipulation software. Now I take a lot of pictures and am interested in putting together a website. I'd like to learn basic techniques used in PS to create subtle and good effects.

So I was following this tutorial. I'm into Step 3 and I've laid down the Gradient Effect. After this "That way the gradient will be masked off only revealing what you want the users to see. This technique is used a lot for this kind of stuff in Photoshop" you'll see a bunch of images. I guess it implies that after the gradient overlay, use a pattern overlay with stripes? Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

So the problem is I've never done a pattern. I downloaded some stripey patterns and when I tried to, it used its own colors, instead of keeping it the bluish colours.

Can someone explain this part in detail for me? I'm an extreme newb trying to learn.

I'm also curious about a couple of things. What does the "chain link" mean when it appears on a layer? What's the purpose of using it? And what does it mean when the author says: "That way the gradient will be masked off only revealing what you want the users to see."

Parent hover active while pointing at subnav

Hello all,
I've had some good luck setting up a nested css menu but am confused about one thing. When I hover over the subnavs (slideouts), the parent hover state goes back to non-active. How do I make the parent stay in the hover state while pointing at one of its subnavs? I think a:active has something to do with it but I haven't had much luck.

PS: this menu isn't wired for IE yet so don't worry about all the issue there.

Redid Website Homepage. Is it an improvement?

Site Overview
I own a website where people are able to create their own political manifestos about any issue they care about. Alongside this, other members are able to comment and rate pages on the political scale and somewhere therein is a social network.

I recently totally redid the Homepage feeling that the old one had too much text on it that nobody would read, we needed something provocative and simple to draw attention. I also like the simple but effective design of Fmylife.com.

I think the current Homepage looks better but I need your opinions.
Since I put up the new homepage, we've had no new registrations but on the day I put it up, we were removed as a featured website on one of those 'Top Sites' sites which was giving us a heck of a lot of traffic so I don't know whether we've had no new registrations because of that or if the Homepage is turning people off.

(By the way, we're a new site so 2-3 new registrations a day is considered good)
