Is anyone making a living on eBay? If so, what types of products, merchandise, services, etc. are you selling?

I put 4 items on ebay in the last 10 days, still have a day remaining on these items, including a computer router. All items I have but one of them are brand new, one book is like new, with a missing cd that was included with the book. All items are reasonably priced, and their auction items, none of them had even one bid...Just my 2.

My Auction Listings:

Good Luck with eBay.

Shouldn't that be...

without "a CD that came with the book"?? As it can't be with something that is missing.

or "one book is like new, although missing a cd that was included with the book

</pedantic>

And then again to correct my own grammar.

"one book is like new, although missing a cd that was included with the book" has an unecessary duplication of "book". So would be better as

"one book is like new, although missing a cd that was originally included"

People generallly won't answer this question.
All it does is add more opposition for them !

Just about everything sells on ebay, but of course some things are harder to make money on depending on the selling price and the comeptition.

The days when a newbie could star selling on ebay and get rich or make a living were way back years ago. Now every man and his dog wants to do it.

The best thing to sell is what you know about.

I doubt if many people make a living on ebay these days.
There is just so much competion, as well as Amazon and stand alone websites.
I suppose some of the big stores and Chinese sellers do.

I used to sell Manuka honey, but only sold a jar a week.
I needed to sell a hundred jars a day at least !
Impossible.

Digmen1,

I read your reply a while ago and have been thinking about it.

I've seen a number of sellers who sell on eBay, but also sell on other sites, and have their own sites they sell on as well.

For example, if I sold shoes on eBay, I would also create my own site that sells shoes too. And I'd attempt to optimize that site, do SEO, what ever it takes, to drive dirrect traffic. That way, I'd have multiple places I'd be selling from.

Yes but to make a living you have to sell a LOT of stuff.

There is now so much competition for every niche and new people starting on ebay and their own websites every day.

Your sig shows a link to some websites, (many of which are the type that spam me) it does not give a link to your bank account with the proof of how much you are making!

I would start by selling stuff which is close to you, which you can just buy when a sale is made. With creative descriptions you could go a long way. Watch out though, they are famous for being hard to deal with, randomly closing your account, etc.

I think its really difficult these days to completely rely on ebay or amazon for living. These streams are too competitive to earn handsome money.

Yes you cannot completely rely on ebay. But ebay is a method that can be used to enhance your business and a method that can be used to reach customers worldwide. I f you are only selling on ebay, why don't you start a small boutique in parallel? then you will have the sales that you get on ebay, and also will be expanding your business.

Unless you are on the payroll of that company you should not rely on any single source for your income.
