Hello Everyone,

I have a website being developed as we speak. I'm not selling products, just helping students post their belongings online. Its only going to cost them $1.25 to do so. I have no ecommerce experience. what are the steps I should take to put my ebusiness together? What are the things I need to setup?

Thanks for you replies.

I would create a short term and long term strategy.

Short Term

Advertise on college websites and college humor sites to begin with. You may want to check out adbrite for advertising space on those sites.

Long Term

Promote with search engine optimization. Make sure your site has alot of text based on your keywords to compliment the graphics. Write articles or have them writen for you on on your key words. Use Isnare etc to launch your articles. Use blogs to promote and link back to your site. Link building and exchange techniques will work well. Its not easy but you can do it.

The great thing about marketing to students is there are a lot of free/low cost ways to do it. Try to get the campus newspaper to do a story about your service. Pay a student $20 to stand on campus and hand out flyers. Partner with one of the local bars and throw a theme party. I would also check into advertising on the Facebook...talk about a lot of impressions!
