Hi All,

I'm a newbie here, but I'm so glad I joined. This looks like such a great forum.

About 18 months ago, I bought a great domain name, relating to the London Olympics in 2012 - but now I need ideas on what sort of a website to build. As we near 2012 I'm sure to get a lot of traffic - so what can I do with the website. Any ideas ?

Hi Webfreak,

The domain I bought is 2012-london-olympics.com. It was the best I could do !! It seems all names relating to the Olympics have been snapped up. I just checked and I bought this name 2 years ago, before it was announced that London had won the bid. So...now...what to do with it ??

You would be smart to affiliate yourself with local shops, hotels, car rental companies, etc. Facilitate a way for people to use your website to plan their stay for the olympics.

Thanks Republikin - that's what I was thinking. Now I'll just have to research the best affiliate programmes to meet the need.

If you really want to maximise your gain from this venture, it will require much more work, but I would personaly contact these companies with a gameplan and pretty much convince them how alligning with you will be beneficial to them. Affiliate programs will only do so much and they will drive away the most serious potential customers.

Thanks for your advice, I need it. I'm quite new at this game and want to make the most of this. Can you explain what you mean by the above statement ?

What I mean by that is I rarely spend money on sites loaded with affiliate links, I would much rather get the info straight from the horses mouth if you were, to insure that I am not being tricked in some way.
