Where is a good (free or cheap) place to get lists of email addresses to send marketing emails to? I just have a simple sales pitch, but I need the emails.

Unless they have signed up specifically (or opted in to "emails from our partners") for your mailshots it is spamming.

Yeah, I guess there's a bit of a gray area there...

I'm not supporting any illegal activities, but this kind of information would normally be found on warez websites.

you should have it so people subscribe to your newsletter before you submit them emails (my personal opinion).

the legal way to approach this is to find a large website that sends newsletters to your target customers (but most of them charge money). Of course you could have something like a 1-week sale for 75% off hosting by using that website's coupon code or something and they might let you advertise it for free in the interest of their subscribers.

Marketing isn't a newsletter...

athomas, do you REALLY believe that getting a big emails list and sending thousands of messages is enough to make sales? Unfortunately, you live in year 2009, not in 1999 and email marketing is much more difficult today

It was just a thought...

there is no way you will get free email lists, that would be like finding the holy grail. Everyone would use it. There is 1 way you can get email lists and that is that you use squeeze pages , where people enter their email adres and subscribe to your list.

But getting people on the list is the easy part, you will still have to gain their trust, sent them 6-7 emails of free advice before you could sell them anything. Giving them videos, ebooks is part of the way to get them to stay subscribed.

You can hire a company to get you email lists, but that is expensive....

be careful when purchasing a mail list. you can be responsible under CAN-SPAM if those emails are illegally harvested.

I don't think it will be a problem. The bigger problem will be validation these emails. Probably 90% of these emails will be non-working

E-mail marketing is not a good idea. People do not like spam & most of them delete them without seeing what is inside.
