Hello ecommerce experts!

I am considering a shopping cart solution to put on my ecommerce site. I would like to gather some feedback on well-known solutions out there, either commercial or open source.

My only requirement is that the shopping cart's checkout page can be customized and "inserted" (integrated) into my own dynamic checkout page. Essentially, I would like to leverage the payment processing backend that is offered.

Thanks!

Hello tanissian, and welcome aboard!

To give you a more precise answer, could you please clarify the integration as you see it in a bit more details: am I correct to assume that you'd like to use a shopping cart only at checkout and order processing stage, while keeping your existing system for catalog management, etc?

Overall, what functions would each of two systems handle?

Take a look at Avactis.

Tanissian, from your description it seems you would like to leave your site as it is and integrate 'cart/checkout' part only. If my understanding is correct, then your goal could be achieved using so-called 'Add to Cart'/'Buy now' buttons - this is the code that you place on your site pages under each product, so customers will add products to their cart, then go to checkout pages (that actually will be the e-commerce software pages) and complete the order.

I am sure most shopping carts can generate Add to Cart buttons for products. You could check our X-Cart solution, with its help you can generate buttons for products with variants/options and quantity field also. Our team will be glad to make test installation in order to be able to test this functionality.

Try Oscommerce. I haven't used it for about 7 years.

Thank you all for your valuable answers!

Indeed I am just looking for integration at the checkout/payment handling stage, while using my own existing catalog system.

I would definitely consider each one of the suggestions you made here. Thank you all for your guidance, now I know where to start.

Tons of good shopping cart solutions in google. Now almost every shopping cart has similar features. They can fulfill your custom integration. Good luck.

I'd like to put in a vote for AspDotNetStorefront. It is an asp.net based cart. Although the license and source code add-on which is around $2300-$2400 can be a bit cost-prohibitive to some, the overall functionality for the price is why we continue to use it for our clients.

Tanissian, have you chosen the solution? Or have you decided what options to choose from?
