We, those who collectively gain money from the PROGRESS and ADVANCEMENT of the worldwide web and related technologies are one side

They, those who collectively gain money either from holding back progress within that arena or, far more often, by abusing that arena and related ones (above all precursors) are our enemy.

So how many ways are there to define the two sides?

In the late 90s it came down to "brick and mortar" vs "online"

but this was never really a good way to differentiate. There is a lot of activity online which goes against the real advancement of the arena and of course the pay of all its true gurus.

I have a better definition - I think it should be...

Spreadsheet users vs Software developers

the brick and mortar world, as well as the world of mass spam delivery, as well as the entire world of anything to do with microsoft is driven by people who claim to be "good at spreadsheets". and who know jack about any real software manipulation/development other than their pathetic virtual version, provided by 1 single piece of software called Excel - and therefore a thoroughly limited perspective and limited way to gain from technology

These idiots, who love spreadsheets, are the same people who make crap like facebook, or deliver the 40 spam crappy emails to your mailbox every day (40 per spammer to my mail ,is what some of my older boxes get daily)

Anyway. I propose no solutions and offer no tips. I'm just telling you who I think our enemies are - we are the geeks, they are the spreadsheet demons, as they call themselves and us. or, we are the software developers and they are the spreadsheet users, in real terms (ones we are likely to recognise far more easily, since we work closer to the source of the engineering systems that provide the money and progress for all parties mentioned)

If it's all too complicated for you, then let me break it down for you really simply:

i hate spreadsheets, i hate people who use them, even when they do so involuntarily and unhappily - when i have lunch with bill gates i shall tell him "William, what the **** are spreadsheets all about? why don't you just get rid of them?"
