i want to be able to sell items on a website and for that person who buys it will immediately be able to obtain the item they bought. Kind of like when you buy an ebook, you get access to it immediately.
how would i go about doing something like that without having to do anything on my part except for posting the items on the website?

thanks
josh

You don't really want to do it that way because you will wind up giving it away for free. People will share the link info and post it on warez forums for others to use.

To do it you just upload it and then specify the return url from PayPal as the download link.

The scripted solutions start at a tad better and progress upward in safety and price. For 25-30 bucks you can buy a resonably secure scripted solution.

Any type of shopping cart with e-delivery would work for you. There are a fair number of them available, or you can code one yourself.

Alternatively you can join an affiliate network and just get paid for referrals. http://www.affiliatescout.com/ is a good place to start.

Yes, I also agree that it would be better to choose some not very compliacted shopping cart that handles downloadable products.

That would save your time a lot

Try e-junkie.com.

They're really reasonable, and
you don't have to worry about
having all those products on
your own server.

You upload everything to their
server, then they give you a "buy
now" or shopping cart button to use.

Then they email your customers a
download link. So far it really works
well for me, and I think you can even
try it for free right now.

Depending on what type of e-items you’ll be delivering, there may be a few options. For example, if you were to sell ‘e-books’, you could use a shopping cart solution like a few people in this thread have suggested. This would allow the consumer to choose what they wanted to purchase and then be delivered a link to download the item upon payment. You could also create a library of the items and secure them in a members/secure area that could only be accessed if someone pays. To put this in perspective, you could have ten e books and charge someone X amount to access all 10 books for a predetermined period of time, i.e., 30 days, 2 moths, whatever you’d like. This could be set up as a recurring charge so the consumer is automatically charged each period for as long as they wish to view the items. E-books may not be the best example for this model but I think it illustrates another way you can sell e-items.

As you can see, you have options.
