I am looking for a good (free) ecommerce software that allows php & mysql. The ecommerce software also needs to be easy to customize.

I have tried OS Commerce but that site was too difficult to customize my husband could not figure it out either (and he knows all about programming and ecommerce).

You could try zen cart, although I'm not sure if that is any easier to customise than OS Commerce.

I am not sure what were the problems you encountered with oscommerce. I regularly post on the forum @ oscommerce, and know many many happy and satisfied online retailers. If you haven't given up yet on osc - share your inputs on what didn't work for you and I might be able to assist you to setup your store.

I agree with pubdomains, the OSCommerce software is probably the easiest I've found which is open source.

If you want anything easier then you are not going to be getting a solid product. You need a product which is easy to administer and also has a good support system with active users.

If you want a hands-off system then you will probably be better off purchasing a shopping cart script.

if you don't find free cart, take a look at a cheap one
I use LC, it's reasonably-priced, php/mysql and (!) my favorite part - you can modify design in Dreamweaver/Frontpage ea-si-ly! And lots of payment processors supported (PayPal, 2CO, Authorize.Net, GoogleCheckout, what not).

The only shortcoming for me is no FedEx calculation Have to stick with UPS/USPS only. But if you are programmer, you can code FedEx yourself (I'm not coder, alas!)

Oh, it's me again. I forgot to tell - if you are in Australia or Canada, it can work with Australia Post and Canada Post.

OsCommerce is easy to use and I dunno what you find difficult with it. Instead of searchin for new ecommerce software better stick with oscommerce. Many people are using it and also there are many satisfied users for it!!

If you can't find a free solution, then probably it is worth considering some commercial software (not very expensive), it is better then using non-convenient free solution.

I believe you can use VirtueMart with Joomla. I don't remember if it is free or not, but it is pretty close to free if it isn't.

there is one called magnet looks alot better than oscommerse but oscommerse is probley the best around play.com use it's a massive site

Another vote for OsCommerce to stay on there ... there is a lot of help out there for this ... try this site ... http://www.websitesource.com/ecommer...rce_help.shtml failing that tell us (on the help part of this site) whats going wrong and maybe someone on here could help?
