There are a million and one solutions out there which offer all kinds of features. First, you should create a checklist and jot down the features and offerings you want in your web shop. Then use this checklist to check your criteria when sampling the shopping cart scripts.
What Chris said. Once you define your requirements compare it against products like ZenCart. I might also suggest you take a look at CubeCart, they just released version 4.1 - good product for multilingual apps (easy to add new languages) but has other areas of weakness, as do all carts unless custom built.
