yeah http://www.dot.tk is good. They give you a shorter URL then http://www.cjb.net and also a smaller popup.
http://www.namezero.com used to give away free .com .org and .net URL's but that stopped a while ago so I guess that is no use now

Unoftunately I can't really agree with you here. They are just SO slow! Although theres no delay once your browser has cached the actual location of the website, it takes far too long to load the first time...

Is it really worth having a free domain when its going to be covered with advertising? They're not that expensive nowardays! (OK, I know that there are some people who don't have the means to buy one i.e. no credit card - maybe we should have a thread on 'domains that don't need a credit card....')
