i'm a brazilian, and the domain that i'm looking for is only available on .ca

i wonder if someone knows a good website to register a .ca domain with paypal, and it's secure for someone living in Brazil (e.g. have trouble with where i live)

i have only 10usd on paypal so it must be on that price range ops:

There are a couple of registrars that offer $9.95 .ca domains (not sure if they accept paypal or not) but to buy a .ca domain name you need to meet "Canadian Presence Requirements" .

If you do I'll check into the paypal payment requirement for you.

www.sibername.com offers domains for around $14.99 CAD, and do take PayPal. If you can get another couple of bucks, you can get the domain.

Doug's right, though...you will need to meet Canadian presence requirements. If I were you, I'd look for another domain name.

the cheapest i could find by now is http://www.namespro.ca for 12.88CAD$ a year...

it doesnt have to be necessarily me right? i can ask a friend to put in his address...

one more question: if my friend wanted to, he could get the domain control just for being on the name and address of the domain name ? (of course, just assuming the possibility)

Theoretically, you could if your friend met the Canadian domain requirements. But you'd better trust that friend with your life, because by CIRA rules and regulations the domain would be his.

hmm that's complicated...

i can't register it with a trusty company? they will use their address.. etc...

i found a company that can act as my agent... but i don't know if i can trust them... anyone knows?

Never heard of them. I'd ask an awful lot of questions about how they do this before even considering them. I assume that they would use their info for admin contact info - that would mean that they would have to approve any registrar, registrant, dns, contact info changes. Puts them in a pretty powerful position - scary!

Netfirms charges 9.95 for a .ca registration - I have used them in the past and will never again - terrible technical support. Appears they don't accept paypal.
Can't think of the other one right now - minds a blank - will get back to you.

NamesPro.ca, which you found, is my primary registrar and is highly recommended and worth the extra couple dollars. Their price is in Canadian dollars so comes real close to your target of 10 us dollars and they do accept paypal although you pay 2 or 3%??? for the privilege.

actually 10dollar.ca charges 10.45 CAD + tax - don't think they accept PayPal either though

I'd also recommend against Netfirms. I never registered a domain with them, but I've had issues with them in the past relating to fraudulent domain registrations.

NamesPro...no experience.

America Registry...no experience, but what scares me about them is that their name is eerily similar to Domain Registry of America. If they're the same company (and they probably aren't, but I'm not 100% convinced and on the off-chance that I'm right, I'm paranoid), there are some major scam issues a-brewin'.

Google Domain Registry of America Scam and you'll see why I'm suspicious. I'm not accusing anyone as such, but my yellow caution light is definitely on.
