Hi All

I have purchased the names www . d a l e k h I r e . c o m and . c o . u k

The reason for the gaps is I don’t at this stage want any links being picked up by Google. Hope this will stop that happening.

I have been informed that the B *B *C would not take to kindly to me setting up a business that hires out these props to parties and charity events etc.

Are there any legal people on here preferably from England U.K. that can advise me on this please? I have wrote to the above company asking for their views.

I would have thought there time was better spent stopping people putting their shows on you tube and the like???

I would have though by me renting out such props would actually benefit their business as people would see it promoted.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

James

I'm not a legal person I'm afraid, though to me it doesn't sound like you would get sued.

I suggest that you incorporate. I know this sounds like 'overkill' for a lot of webmasters but let me assure you it can be done for approximately $150 (at least in the states) and it places a legal 'border' around your business.

James, This is important in your case because it means that any lawsuit or action can only be made against the corporation - not against you personally. Therefore all YOUR possessions (house, car, savings account, etc.) are safe.

In my case if I were ever sued they'd get a few hundred dollars, a computer and a chair.... Not worth their time to go after my corporation.....

Hi Guys thanks for the reply.

Is Incorporate the same as forming a LTD company?

Thanks

I'm sure the BBC would think twice before suing a small company like yours. I'm not a legal expert, but the bad PR (as well as huge legal costs) of suing a small company is worse than stopping a small company from infringing copyright, and it sounds like you aren't even doing that. If the worst came to the worst the BBC would probably do you the courtesy of sending you a "cease and desist" type email: they wouldn't go straight for a court-case.

Having said that I'm not much of a law expert: anyone else here got some opinions?

I wouldn't gamble on public relations ( or page rank ) to stop a major corporation from enjoying a good lawsuit. That didn't exactly save people who downloaded mp3 files.

Also, people who say someone else should be too busy making youtube videos to defend their rights probably don't have much of a case. Just as a general rule. I don't even recognize the domain name in question, so I can't say any more specifically, but I'd talk to a real lawyer.
