Hi,

Will having a dedicated IP address for my server have any benefits in SEO perspectives?

A dedicated, or permanent IP address for the DNS look-up request for my domain name; will this help my search engine ranking?

I don't think it matters.

There is a school of thought which suggests a dedicated IP address does matter in terms of SEO. But when two-word terms (one of which is SEO) can be picked up by sites that don't have a dedicated IP address, then your answer is right there.

It may well be a slight factor, but there are over 100. I personally doubt it is and have from the beginning since there are only 255 to the 4th power IPs available in total, and about a zillion ways to register domain names. Plus, of those 255 to the 4th IPs, you need to eliminate the 10, 169 and 192 ranges for internal networks (there may be more...I don't remember) and those assigned by ISPs for Internet connections for users (like you, for example.)

It would be asinine for a search engine to use IP addresses as a ranking factor for this reason alone: if there aren't more domains than IPs available to host them, there will be within 1-2 years.

The only real benefit is if you had a group of sites that were linked together - the links from different ips look better from an SEO perspective.

I run about five Websites from the same hosting account at GoDaddy (which also is my domain registrar) , and I saw that they offered "dedicated IP address" as a extra feature. I just thought that having one, permanent address to my sites would possible improve their rankings as they probably would appear to be running more stable since they never changed IP address...

2,35 USD a month for the service, I think. :/

The IP address for your sites already WILL be at least semi-permanent. Hosts generally don't change IPs for sites, once assigned. It's too much of a time waster in terms of configuration.

The dedicated IP will only apply to one site, not all 5. It's also generally used only for sites that require it; the only reason I know of that a site would need a dedicated IP is to register an SSL.

A number of SEO's think that a dedicated IP address does improve your position. It certainly doesn't hurt it, if you can get one. If you have a small website, I wouldn't bother but if it is popular, I'd say it's worth doing.
