You can use things like facebook.yourdomain.com

The only reason you may want to have facebook.yourdomain.com or twitter.yourdomain.com is if you host some kind of app / plugin / something relating to said service.

Google to see what results your find.

Tbh, using a trademark isnt too much of an issue. However if they decide they want your site they have a better standing to take it.

As long as your site relates to the domain is isnt a blatent troll to steal someone elses goodwill you should be fine.

Just stay away from trademarked domains. Esp. Singers, Bands, Music Labels, Movies, Games, Big Corporate Companies

You won't be able to register trademarks.
1. Because they are not availible for the registration.
2. If you have domain name like uyuyw4tujgoogletgdsfgwhj.com - that is not trade mark.

This should answer it for you:

So, for example, the use of an identical mark on the same product would clearly constitute infringement. If I manufacture and sell computers using the mark "Apple," my use of that mark will likely cause confusion among consumers, since they may be misled into thinking that the computers are made by Apple Computer, Inc. Using a very similar mark on the same product may also give rise to a claim of infringement, if the marks are close enough in sound, appearance, or meaning so as to cause confusion. So, for example, "Applet" computers may be off-limits; perhaps also "Apricot." On the other end of the spectrum, using the same term on a completely unrelated product will not likely give rise to an infringement claim. Thus, Apple Computer and Apple Records can peacefully co-exist, since consumers are not likely to think that the computers are being made by the record company, or vice versa.

You can not use any name that have been registered before, you can not use a combination of tradermark, you can not use comma, dot, underscore etc. You can use dot for sub domain name with your hosting server.

You can also use trademarks, but you do it on your own. I mean, lawyers just wait for new people to sue them. :P

If you are not sure if that domain name registration will be legit better not to register this domain name at all.
