GoDaddy just auto renewed my GD Auction membership with ZERO notification

There was no check box during the sign up process and they opted me in without my consent!!

Any chance I can recover my money back??

Trying to pry money out of GoDaddys hand will not be easy. Calmly try to explain to them the circumstances; You have a small chance.

And if the above post doesn't work, you could call your credit card company and ask them to remove the charge, although I don't think GoDaddy would be happy with you doing that...

Yes, excellent idea. Tell your card issuer that it was an unauthorized transaction and, if you keep having issues, you may remind them of The Federal Document E. I can't think of the exact name but will try to get it if you need such.

That's not fair, GoDaddy went wrong doing this. I mean, I don't want nobody to renew a service without notifications, maybe I find something better looking at competition and do not want to renew it.
My 2 cents: try with an email to Godaddy and explain them what you want, maybe you're lucky.

Going against godaddy is an impossible task they will bring those girls to a jury them the case will be all messed up, In my experience Im just going to say that there is a dark side behind their customer service, that will do the best to not help you and take money from you.

^ Very true.
I'm glad I did my research before buying my domains. GoDaddy doesn't even include free private registration as an option with that expensive $9.99 per year price! It's a shame that they are the most advertised domain registrar which lures all the new inexperienced customers into their trap.

Try to sell your domain name. That is the only opportunity you currently have. You will not be able return the money you paid for the domain name renewal.
Good luck

I know their are other places that offer cheaper domain names but 9.99 is not really that expensive for a domain name.

Yup, godaddy behaves like a bandit, and if you calculated everything well you would realize that you would spend 2-3 X Less if you used Moniker or NameCheap or any other registrar.

They once auto renewed e-mail service I had already canceled 6 months before. I tried to get my money back with no luck. I really wish my web design clients would stop using them and go to a real web host.

One can get it even cheaper with one of the coupons that can be easily found using Google.

It's not impossible that it was there, but you overlooked it. With so many upselling attempts, you're likely to miss one.

Now, one would expect an invoice prior to a charge, even if it's all setup on auto renewal.

There is a simple solution.

Do not set anything to auto-renew. Better yet don't even keep a current CC number on file with them or anyone.

They will contact you you before renewal time. But to be safe always renew early the services you want to keep.

There are options to change this you just have to look. I would not challenge thyem because you might end up tied to the back of a nascar by a hot chick and dragged around the track.

They put auto-renewal as default when buying a new domain...so you can`t do anything
When you buy a domain, try entering domain manager and turn of auto-renew
